Here's the ranking. Only 3 apps passed. The other 12 are legal looters.

1. The Looters – 12 Apps to Avoid (24-48% Interest)
These apps are legal. RBI registered. But they charge 2-4x bank interest.
Rank 15-4 (Worst to Bad):
mPokket – 36-48% APR. Aggressive recovery. Calls your mother.
CASHe – 30-40% APR. Processing fee up to 6%.
KreditBee – 24-30% APR. Hidden documentation fee.
SmartCoin – 25-35% APR. Short tenure (3 months) kills you.
NIRA – 24-30% APR. Prepayment penalty 10%.
EarlySalary (old version) – 24-28% APR. Now merged with Fibe (better).
PaySense – 18-26% APR. Acceptable but not best.
MoneyTap – 16-24% APR. Line of credit, interest on used amount only.
Axis Bank Insta Loan – 15-20% APR. Good but slow.
HDFC Insta Loan – 14-18% APR. For existing customers only.
ICICI Insta Loan – 13-17% APR. Good for salary account holders.
SBI Insta Loan – 12-16% APR. Best among banks but takes 1 day.
2. The Top 3 Best Loan Applications (12-20% APR)
Rank 3: Fibe (ex-EarlySalary) – 12-24% APR Zero processing fee during offers. Loan up to ₹5 lakh. Approval in 10 minutes. Best for: Salaried professionals with 650+ CIBIL.
Rank 2: MoneyView – 12-20% APR Processing fee 1-3%. No hidden charges. Loan up to ₹5 lakh. Approval in 15 minutes. Best for: Self-employed and salaried both.
Rank 1: PaySense (by Navi) – 16-26% APR (but great for first-timers) Why #1? Because they approve loans when others reject. CIBIL as low as 600 accepted. Processing fee 1.5-3%. Transparent. No documentation fee. Best for: People with low CIBIL or no credit history.
3. The Real Cost Calculation – Example ₹20,000 for 6 Months
Let's compare a looter app (KreditBee) vs top app (MoneyView):
- KreditBee (looter):
- Interest 24% APR = ₹2,400 interest
- Processing fee 3% = ₹600
- GST on fee = ₹108
- Documentation fee = ₹200
- Total repayment = ₹23,308
- MoneyView (best):
- Interest 16% APR = ₹1,600 interest
- Processing fee 2% = ₹400
- GST on fee = ₹72
- No documentation fee
- Total repayment = ₹22,072
Difference: ₹1,236 saved by choosing the best loan application.
That's 6% of your loan amount. Gone if you choose wrong.
4. How to Choose the Best Loan Application for You (3 Steps)
Step 1: Check your CIBIL (free on GPay, Paisabazaar) Above 750 → Go to bank (SBI, HDFC, ICICI) – 10-12% interest 650-750 → Use Fibe or MoneyView – 12-18% interest Below 650 → Use PaySense – 16-26% interest (but you'll get approved)
Step 2: Calculate APR, not monthly interest
APR = (Total repayment – Loan amount) / Loan amount × 100 / Years If APR > 25%, reject.
Step 3: Read the fine print for these 4 fees
Processing fee (should be <3%) GST (18% on fee – mandatory, but fee should be low) Documentation fee (should be ₹0) Prepayment penalty (should be <2% or zero)
5. The Bank vs App Comparison – Which Is Best?
Parameter Bank Loan Top Loan App (Fibe/MoneyView) Looter App (mPokket) Interest (APR) 10-14% 12-20% 36-48% Approval time 1-7 days 10-30 minutes 5 minutes CIBIL needed 750+ 650+ 600+ or none Processing fee 0.5-1% 1-3% 4-6% Recovery Professional Moderate Harassment Best for Large loans, good CIBIL Medium loans, medium CIBIL Emergency, low CIBIL Verdict: Bank is best if you can wait. Fibe/MoneyView is best if you need speed. mPokket is never best.
Real Example – My Friend's ₹30,000 Loan
Friend A used Fibe: ₹30,000 for 1 year at 15% APR. Total repaid: ₹32,250. Friend B used mPokket: ₹30,000 for 1 year at 40% APR. Total repaid: ₹36,000.
Difference: ₹3,750. Friend B paid 12.5% extra.
