Noida. The poster child of modern India. Highrises. Malls. Wide roads.
But I read the real Noida news — not the real estate ads. And I found 5 hard truths.
The Air You Breathe Is Poison
Noida's AQI today: 280. That's "poor." On some days, it's "severe."
A doctor in a Noida hospital said: "I see 20 respiratory cases every day. Most are children."
The headline: "Air quality remains poor." The truth: It's been "poor" for 5 years. Nothing has changed.
The Water You Drink Is Contaminated
A government report last month found that 40% of Noida's groundwater is unsafe. High levels of nitrate and fluoride.
The headline: "Water testing camps organized." The truth: Testing doesn't clean the water. RO filters do. And they cost money.
The House You Bought May Never Be Built
Noida has thousands of "stalled" housing projects. People have paid EMIs for 7 years. No flat. No refund.
A homebuyer said: "I'm 60 years old. A home is still a dream."
The headline: "RERA orders completion of projects." The truth: Orders don't build homes. Money does. And the money is gone.
The Metro Is Great. The Last Mile Is Hell
Noida's metro is excellent. But getting to the metro? No footpaths. No cycle lanes. Autos charge double.
The headline: "Metro ridership increases." The truth: People walk on muddy roads to reach the station.
The Park Near Your Home Is a Parking Lot
Every residential society promised parks. Most turned them into parking spaces.
A mother said: "Where will my child play? Between cars in the parking lot?"
The headline: "Noida's open spaces shrinking." The truth: Cars have more space than children.
Why I'm Not Anti-Noida
I'm not saying Noida is bad. It has jobs. It has opportunities. It has a certain energy.
But calling it a "smart city" is a joke. A smart city has clean air, clean water, safe homes, and space for children.
Noida has none of these.
What You Should Do
If you live in Noida, don't accept this as normal. Ask your RWA why the park is a parking lot. Ask your builder why the flat is delayed. Ask your politician why the air is poison.
Because a city is not smart if its people are suffering.
