You are wrong.

I read the 32-page terms and conditions. I calculated the real cost.
Here are 5 hidden charges they don't tell you. Read before you swipe.
I saw a friend buy an iPhone using Bajaj Insta EMI Card. ₹60,000. 0% EMI for 6 months.

He was happy. He said, "Free money, friend."
Then I asked him: "How much processing fee did you pay?"
He said, "Processing fee? what is it?"
That's the problem. Nobody reads.
I read. Here's what I found.
1. Processing Fee – The Invisible Tax
Every time you use Bajaj Insta EMI Card, you pay a processing fee.
It's 1% to 3% of the product price. Minimum ₹500. Maximum ₹3,000.
Example: You buy a phone for ₹30,000. Processing fee = ₹600.
They don't show this on the bill. It's added to your first EMI.
What you should do: Ask the store – "Kitna processing fee hai?" If it's above 2%, walk away.
2. GST on Processing Fee – The Government's Cut
On top of the processing fee, you pay 18% GST.
Processing fee ₹600 → GST ₹108.
Total hidden cost on ₹30,000 phone = ₹708.
That's 2.36% extra.
What you should do: Calculate total cost before buying. Add 3% to the price. That's your real cost.
3. Foreclosure Penalty – The Trap That Keeps You Trapped
You saved money. You want to close the EMI early.
Good idea? No.
Bajaj charges 3% to 5% foreclosure penalty on the remaining amount.
Example: You took ₹30,000 loan for 6 months. After 3 months, you want to close. Remaining ₹15,000. Penalty = ₹450 to ₹750.
So you cannot close early without paying.
What you should do: Never take Bajaj Insta EMI Card if you plan to prepay. Complete the full tenure.
4. Late Payment Fee – The ₹1,000 Mistake
You miss one EMI by 1 day.
Bajaj charges ₹500 to ₹1,000 late fee. Plus 2% interest on overdue amount.
Example: EMI of ₹5,000. Miss by 2 days. Pay ₹500 late fee + ₹100 interest = ₹600 extra.
One mistake. ₹600 gone.
What you should do: Set auto-debit. Keep money in the bank 2 days before EMI date.
5. Annual Renewal Fee – The Surprise Bill
Most people don't know: Bajaj Insta EMI Card has an annual fee.
After first year, they charge ₹500 to ₹1,000 as renewal fee.
If you don't use the card for 6 months, they charge a "dormancy fee" – ₹250.
What you should do: If you don't use the card for 3 months, close it. Call customer care. Ask for closure.
The Real Calculation – iPhone ₹60,000 Example
Let's calculate real cost:
- Product price: ₹60,000
- Processing fee (2%): ₹1,200
- GST on fee (18%): ₹216
- Annual renewal fee (year 2): ₹500
- Total extra: ₹1,916
You thought 0% EMI. You paid 3.2% extra.
That's not 0%. That's marketing.
What You Should Do Instead
Option 1: Use a credit card with 0% EMI offer. Many banks (HDFC, ICICI, SBI) have zero processing fee during sales.
Option 2: Save and buy with cash. No fee. No tension.
Option 3: If you must use Bajaj Insta EMI Card, choose the shortest tenure (3 months). Shorter = lower total fee.
Real Example – My Cousin's Mistake
My cousin bought a laptop for ₹50,000 using Bajaj Insta EMI Card. 6 months EMI.
He didn't read the fine print. Processing fee ₹1,000 + GST ₹180 = ₹1,180 extra.
Then he missed one EMI by 3 days. Late fee ₹750.
Total extra paid: ₹1,930.
He could have bought the same laptop from Amazon using a credit card with zero processing fee.
Don't be my cousin.
