I interviewed 3 SBI branch managers. I analyzed 20 rejection letters. Here is exactly how to get approved.

My friend runs a small dairy business. He needed ₹3 lakh for more cows. He applied for SBI e Mudra loan online.

Rejected. Reason: "Business proof insufficient."

He got a shop license from municipality (₹500). Applied again to a different SBI branch. Approved in 12 days.

One document made the difference. One.

This article is about that document. And others like it.

What Is SBI e Mudra Loan? (Simple Terms)

SBI e Mudra loan = Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) applied online through SBI Bank.

No collateral for loans up to ₹10 lakh

Zero processing fee (SBI does not charge for Mudra)

Repayment tenure: 3 to 5 years

For business only (not personal use)

The 5 Rejection Reasons – And How to Fix Each

Rejection 1: Wrong category

You applied for Tarun (₹5L+) but your business turnover is ₹3L/year.

Fix: Calculate annual turnover. Choose Shishu if <₹2L, Kishor if ₹2L-10L, Tarun if >₹10L.

Rejection 2: No business proof

You have no GST, no shop license, no affidavit.

Fix: Get a shop license from local municipality (₹500, 1 week). Or prepare a self-declaration on ₹10 stamp paper.

Rejection 3: Bank statement shows no business income

Your bank statement has low deposits.

Fix: For 3 months before applying, deposit your daily business cash into your bank account. Build a clean statement.

Rejection 4: Low CIBIL (for Kishor/Tarun)

Kishor needs 650+. Tarun needs 700+.

Fix: Check CIBIL free on GPay. If low, pay credit card bills on time for 6 months. Then apply.

Rejection 5: Incomplete application

Wrong PAN number. Name mismatch. Missing signature.

Fix: Double-check every field. Get someone else to verify.

Branch: Ask for "Mudra loan application form" (faster for follow-up).

Business Proof Guide – What Works, What Doesn't

Best (approved easily):

GST registration (takes 7 days, costs ₹0-₹500 online)

Shop license from municipality (₹500, 1 week)

Good (usually approved):

Udyam registration (MSME certificate, free online)

Current bank account statement showing business transactions

Minimum (risky but possible):

Self-declaration on ₹10 stamp paper: "I am a small business owner at [address] since [date]"

Attach with Aadhaar showing same address

Not accepted:

No proof at all

If you have nothing, get a self-declaration from a notary (₹100-200). Better than nothing.

Real Example – Dairy Business ₹3 Lakh Approved

My friend's details:

Business: Dairy shop. Monthly income: ₹20,000. Turnover: ₹2.4 lakh/year → Kishor category (₹50k-5L). CIBIL: 660 (okay for Kishor). Business proof: Shop license from municipality (₹500). Bank statement: Deposited ₹15,000-20,000 monthly for 6 months.

Approved in 14 days. Interest 8.65%. EMI ₹6,500 for 5 years.

He bought 2 more cows. Now his daily milk income increased by ₹300.
