Haryana.
Shining Haryana. Developed Haryana. Gurgaon. Malls. Highways.
That's what the English media tells you.
But I read haryana bhaskar – the Hindi newspaper that tells the truth.
Here are 5 truths. They don't want you to know.
Translation: "No water in village – swimming pool in Gurgaon society."
A village 30 km from Gurgaon has no tap water. No hand pump. Women fetch water from a pond.
The same district has societies with swimming pools. Water fountains. Lush green lawns.
The headline: "Urban-rural divide widens."
The truth: Your pool is their thirst.
What I saw: I visited the village. Women were walking 3 km to a pond. The water was green. They filled their pots.
A woman said: "Gurgaon mein pool hai. Yahan paani nahi."
Why English media won't show: Because "Shining Haryana" doesn't have room for thirsty villages.
What you should do: Next time you swim, think of them.
Translation: "Farmer sold land. Son became Uber driver."
A farmer in Hisar sold his 10 acres for ₹2 crore. He bought a flat in Gurgaon. A luxury car. He thought he was rich.
The money ran out in 3 years. Now his son drives an Uber. He picks up passengers near his old farm.
The headline: "Farmers sell land, migrate to cities."
The truth: Land is not wealth. It's survival.
What I saw: I met the son. He was driving a white Uber. His father sat in the back. They were going to their old village.
The son said: "Papa ne zameen bech di. Ab hum khet nahi dekh sakte."
Why English media won't show: Because land sale stories don't fit the "development" narrative.
What you should do: Think twice before selling ancestral land.
Translation: "Girls studied. Why are boys leaving school?"
Haryana's girls are topping exams. Every year, headlines celebrate them.
But boys are dropping out. To work in fields. To drive trucks. To join the army.
The headline: "Male literacy rate declines."
The truth: A generation of boys is being left behind.
What I saw: I visited a village school. The girls were in class. The boys were playing outside.
The teacher said: "Ladke padhte nahi. Kaam pe chale jaate hain. Ladkiyan padhti hain."
Why English media won't show: Because the focus is on "beti bachao." "Beta" is forgotten.
What you should do: Don't forget the boys. They need education too.
Translation: "No medicine in hospital. Patient bought from footpath."
A government hospital in Haryana had no paracetamol. No antibiotics. No painkillers.
A patient with fever bought medicine from a roadside vendor. Fake medicine. He got sicker.
The headline: "Medicine shortage at hospital."
The truth: The vendor sells fake medicines. The patient doesn't know.
What I saw: I stood outside the hospital. A man was selling medicine on a plastic sheet. No license. No cold storage.
A patient bought a strip. He said: "Yahan dawa nahi hai. Yahi se lena padta hai."
Why English media won't show: Because it's not a "scandal." It's routine.
What you should do: RTI file karo. Pata karo paisa kahan gaya.
Translation: "Jat village boy reached IIT. Now at NASA."
A young man from a small village in Haryana cracked IIT. Then MIT. Then NASA.
He now designs satellites. His village still has no paved road.
The headline: "Village boy's journey to NASA."
The truth: He studied under a streetlight. His father sold a buffalo for his fees.
What I saw: I visited his village. His mother was sitting in a mud house. She had a framed photo of her son in NASA uniform.
She said: "Mera beta taare dekh raha hai. Main use dekh rahi hoon."
Why English media won't show: Because good news doesn't sell.
What you should do: Share his story. Inspire other village boys.
Haryana Is Not Just Shining
Haryana is shining. But only for some.
Villages without water.
Farmers who sold their land.
Boys who dropped out.
Hospitals without medicine.
And one village boy who reached NASA.
That's the Haryana that haryana bhaskar covers.
That's the Haryana you never see.
