1 litre petrol price. Every rupee matters. On a 50-litre tank, ₹3 difference is ₹150. Over a month, ₹600. Over a year, ₹7,200.
You do not want to pay ₹7,200 extra because you used a wrong app.

I tested 8 apps for 30 days. 3 official apps gave accurate 1 l petrol price at 6:05 AM every day. 2 random apps were wrong by ₹3 per litre.
Here is how to never overpay again. Your wallet will thank you.
My neighbour always fills petrol on Tuesday morning. He thinks prices are lower on Tuesday. They are not. He has been wasting his luck for 10 years.
I showed him the official app. On Tuesday, 1 l petrol price was ₹104. On Wednesday, ₹103.50. He could have saved ₹0.50 per litre if he filled on Wednesday.
He now checks before filling. He saves ₹200 per month.
This article is that app.
How 1 L Petrol Price Is Set (Simple)
Oil marketing companies (OMC) – IOC, BPCL, HPCL – revise petrol and diesel prices daily at 6 AM based on international crude oil prices.
New price applies from 6 AM. Previous day's price until 5:59 AM.
If you fill at 5:55 AM, you pay yesterday's 1 l petrol price.
If you fill at 6:05 AM, you pay today's price.
The trick: Sometimes price drops by ₹0.50. Sometimes rises. Check before you go.
Also, different cities have different prices due to local taxes (VAT, transport). And within the same city, different pumps of different brands may have different prices (by ₹0.10-0.50).
The 2 Wrong Apps for 1 L Petrol Price (Avoid)
App 1: "Petrol Price India – Daily Updates"
Shows 1 l petrol price that is 1-2 days old.
Off by ₹2-3 per litre.
Full of ads. Unreliable.
App 2: "Fuel Price Live 2026"
Data often incorrect for smaller cities.
Shows cashback offers that are expired.
Asks for unnecessary permissions.
How to test: Compare with the official IOC app. If difference > ₹0.50, delete.

How to Save ₹7,200 Per Year Using 1 L Petrol Price Apps
Strategy 1: Check 1 l petrol price before filling
Open Indian Oil ONE app at 6:05 AM.
Check if price dropped compared to yesterday.
If dropped, fill today. If increased, delay if possible (unless tank is empty).
Strategy 2: Find the cheapest pump
In the app, search for pumps near you.
Sort by 1 l petrol price. Within the same city, different pumps can have different prices (₹0.10-0.50 difference).
Drive 1 km extra to save ₹0.50/litre. On 40 litres, that is ₹20 saved for 10 minutes of extra driving. Worth it.
Strategy 3: Fill full tank when price drops
When you see a drop of ₹1 and more, fill full tank (even if you have half left).
This locks in the lower 1 l petrol price.
Strategy 4: Use fuel loyalty cards
IOC gives 0.25% to 0.5% cashback on every fill via their loyalty program. It adds up.
Real calculation:
Average petrol per month: 200 litres (car) and 50 litres (bike)
Saving ₹0.50 per litre by choosing cheaper pump: ₹100 (car) / ₹25 (bike)
Saving ₹0.50 per litre by timing price drop: ₹100 / ₹25
Loyalty cashback: ₹50 / ₹10
Total monthly saving: ₹250 (car) / ₹60 (bike)
Not a fortune. But free money.
The Hidden Truth – Why Some Pumps Cheat You on 1 L Petrol Price
Not all pumps are honest. Some use tampered machines to deliver less fuel than you pay for.
How to protect yourself:
Fill at company-owned "Company Operated" (COCO) pumps. They are more honest. IOC, BPCL, HPCL have them.
Check the digital meter before they start filling. It should be at zero.
Demand a "seal check" – the machine should have a valid calibration seal from weights and measures department.
If you suspect cheating, ask them to fill 1 litre in a measuring bottle (they are required to have one). If it is short, complain to the consumer helpline.
Better to use official app's "trusted pump" feature. Indian Oil ONE app shows which pumps are certified.
REAL EXAMPLE – How I Save ₹300 Monthly on 1 L Petrol Price I use Indian Oil ONE app. I check 1 l petrol price at 6:05 AM every day. I have a 50-litre tank. I fill when price drops.
I also use the app to find the cheapest pump in my area. One pump is ₹0.80 cheaper than the one near my house. I drive 2 km extra to fill there.
Monthly saving: ₹0.80 × 150 litres (3 fills) = ₹120. Plus timing drops: another ₹100. Plus loyalty cashback: ₹50. Total ₹270.
Not huge. But it pays for my Netflix subscription.
